Dr. Narbikram Thapa has over 30-year professional career with national and international agencies to address poverty and injustice through, program management, education, food security, livelihood, monitoring, reporting and evaluation, health, saving & credit scheme, Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Risk Reduction,  Skill Development trainings for farmers, local governance, enterprises development, community development etc. He has the expertise in program management, participatory planning, rights-based programming (social equity and social justice), conflict transformation and peace building, participatory approach and methodology, socio-economic research, documentation etc.
 He is experienced in managing the large Integrated Development Program in different districts of Nepal with the engagement in ActionAid International as Programme Manager particularly in Sindhupalchowk, Nawalparasi, and Eastern Region and mid and Far-Western Region, Nepal. He has carried out an Integrated Social Development Program in Kailali, Bajhang funded by DFID/N and Integrated Community Development Program in Kanchanpur and Jajarkot district including education, saving and credit scheme, food security, livelihoods, agroforestry, HIV/AIDS and Health components also managing the Sexual Exploitation, HIV/AIDS and Caste-based Discrimination campaign in Kailali, Kanchanpur, Bardiya, Banke, Dang districts and currently across the country. He has also managed the Public Health and Basic Livelihood support program in Oxfam GB-Nepal. He has remained a responsible Regional Program Manager and Fellowship Coordinator based in Mazar, Northern Region, Afghanistan to look after the livelihoods/agriculture, Participatory Community-based Change Plans and NGO’s capacity building Program, monitoring, reporting and project design for rehabilitation of Afghan returnees from Pakistan and Iran.  He was the Executive Director at Urban Environment Management Society, Lalitpur and took the responsibility of overall management of the organization.


He also has experienced in working with conflict situation for a period of 7 years in Nepal and one year in Afghanistan. He has successfully handled the Program in the field during conflict environment and contributed to develop security guideline in Nepal. He even have a number of publications related to Getting Prosperity through Farmer led Agriculture, Societal Analysis: Politics of Poverty, Injustice and Inequity, 2005 Sustainable Livelihood, Food and Nutrition Security, Sociology of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nepal, Networks and Their Functions, Livelihoods, Monitoring and Evaluation system, Urine Therapy. He has published number of development research articles in Peer Review Journals. He has done Ph.D. in Rural Development focusing on Food Security and Rural Livelihoods from TU in 2012.
